Dr. José S. Villa retired, and Maria C. Garza succeeded him as CEO. Maria shared a farmworker-family background with Rafael and José, connecting this chapter to ECMHSP’s roots. In the years that followed, the organization responded to the COVID-19 pandemic, expanded into Indiana and Oklahoma, began serving workers in dairy, seafood, and nurseries, and published preschool books through Scholastic Education.
